Evidence Based Practice and Research: Implementation and Success Strategies

Using evidence based practice and research to improve clinical care is a recommendation with application for all clinical settings. Interpreting and using research and evidence based practice in clinical practice helps to ensure best practices and promotes positive outcomes for patients. Yet, it is often difficult for nurses to devote time to these activities as the daily demands of practice often take precedence.

This workshop will review key strategies for implementing evidence based practice and research in clinical practice. An overview of evidence based practice and clinical research will be presented followed by examples of turning quality projects into evidence based practice. The process of developing and implementing a research study will be discussed, highlighting examples of clinical research projects. Information in this session is valuable for hospitals intending to improve their clinical practice and those interested in achieving Magnet status.
